Those who believe that traditional church is the only source of biblical understanding would be overlooking two important Bible verses:"And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; (John 20:30 NKJV)." & "And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.; (John 21:25 NKJV)."
Therefore, not everything that is important is to be found in the Bible only. There are other complementary sources.
While traditional church "authorities" have been largely satisfied with their unproblematic (although profitable for them) patterns of "tradition" and status quo, secret societies have honed their understandings in ways that benefit the application and mastery of biblical principles. Secret societies do not claim to know everything, but they do know how to apply what they have mastered.
Once introduced to the teachings of secret societies, one finds it little wonder that "secret societies" have been the sources of many of the world's most accomplished people. Secret societies truly make a point concerning discipleship.
(Traditional church has barely scratched the surface of many biblical concepts!)
